
TREZOR SESEL : Tropical and Wedge-tailed Shearwater
'Trezor Sesel' or 'Seychelles Treasures' is a series of videos highlighting species or habitats unique to the islands of Seychelles in the Indian Ocean. Because these islands are so isolated from the rest of the world and only have been inhabited for the last century's, nature has thrived here like nowhere else on the planet and there are a large number of animals and plants that exist only here. But as many of these unique species are threatened now it's important to protect. The aim of these video's is for the audience, in the first place the local Seychellois audience, to get to know these very rare and unique creatures a bit better, and thus care for them and help to protect them.

In this episode we travel to the island of Aride, which is home to the largest breeding colony of Tropical Shearwaters in the world and one of the largest colony's of wedge-tailed Shearwaters in the Indian Ocean. Gerard Rocamora, an ornithologist, tells us all about these 2 different types of Shearwaters, the colony's on Aride and the groundbreaking research that has been done by ICS on the migration and feeding trips of these marine birds.

In this episode, the Wright's Gardenia (or Bois Citron in Creole) is the center of attention. It's a tree with beautiful fragrant flowers, endemic to Seychelles, which almost got extinct with only a few specimens left on the Island of Aride. Thanks to a conservation program the Wright's Gardenia now has been re-introduced to some of the other islands and is doing a lot better. Charles Morel, a botanist from the Natural History Museum in Victoria tells us a bit more about the species before we travel to Aride and get to see the Wright's Gardenia trees flourishing there.

In this episode we learn more about the Aldabra Giant Tortoise, which once roamed over all the islands of Seychelles but now appears only naturally on the Aldabra atoll. They have been re-introduced to several other islands again, and breeding programs have to insure the existence of these gentle giants. We visit Desroches, a coralline island, where the Giant Tortoises are roaming freely over the island and an adopting program is set up to involve the hotel guests in the conservation of this ancient species.

GIF Myna Eradication on Denis Island
An instructional video on the Myna Eradication that was conducted by Green Islands Foundation on Denis Private Island in Seychelles. Myna's are one of the most invasive birds on the planet, dramatically impacting endemic bird populations by their aggressive nature. On Denis 4 species of endemic birds have been reintroduced, the Magpie Robin, the Seychelles Warbler, the Seychelles Fody, the Secychelles Paradise Flycatcher, and to give them an honest chance to reproduce and to increase the population the decision was made to eradicate the Myna population.
The objective of this video is to share the knowledge and experience Green Islands Foundation and their partners gathered throughout the project with other organisations who want to conduct a similar eradication.
